Fernald “Michael” Yates was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania May 6, 1962 to his late mother and father Martha and Fernald (Skippy) Yates.
Michael was educated in the Norristown area School District and continued his education at York College of Pennsylvania. Michael was a truly humorous person. He enjoyed the arts and was in numerous plays. Michael was also an avid guitar player. He loved comic books from a young age into adulthood. His love for comics carried him into his career as a comic book store owner. Michael was a co-owner of Atomic City comic books, his pride and joy located in Philadelphia. Michael also loved to cook and was an excellent cook. His ribs were notorious.
Michael was an only child and was preceded in death by his parents, Martha I Williams and Fernald “Skippy” Yates. Michael leaves behind an Aunt, long time friend Jennifer Sullivan, and a host of cousins and friends to cherish his memories.
Michael’s humor and warmth will truly be missed.
We are heartbroken by the sudden and unexpected passing of a wonderful nephew/cousin. We are extremely saddened by the passing of a very artistically talented individual who touched many lives, especially ours with his humor and wit. This is a profound loss. Heaven gained a very bright light and beautiful soul. Sorrowfully the Family

God knew when
He was ready to call her home.
He knew the plan that he had for you.
There should be no more dying,
No more crying,
No more sickness,
And no more diseases.
The Lord has found
You a resting place.
Until we meet again.
Ecclesiastes 12:7 And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
